INSTALLATION
Disk supplied by Enterprise Software:
Place the enclosed WEDDING ARRANGER disk in the A or B drive. Then,
assuming you are using the A drive, type at the DOS prompt:
C:\>A:INSTALL <ENTER>
Any other supplier:
Follow that supplier's instructions.
EXECUTION
You must be at the WEDA directory for program execution. Change to the
directory,
C:\>CD C:\WEDA <ENTER>
And then, to start program execution:
C:\WEDA>WEDA <ENTER>
The WEDDING ARRANGER program name, version number and copyright
information are displayed. Press any key to continue.
If the error message "DBFNDX/1006" is displayed during the execution
of the program, it will be necessary to modify the root directory
CONFIG.SYS file. Consult your DOS manual. As a minimum use:
FILES = 20 BUFFERS = 15
CONVENTIONS
Menu names and choices within menus will be indicated as upper case in
this user guide.
A menu is selected from any other menu.
A pop-up window occurs when additional choices are required.
Selection within a menu or a pop-up window is accomplished by a) using
the cursor up and down arrow keys and pressing <ENTER> or b) typing the
first character of the choice or c) placing the mouse cursor over the
choice and pressing the left mouse button.
A panel allows for input of data. Panels use the following keys:
<CTRL>+<END> Press and hold the <CTRL> key and then press the
<END> key.
<ESC> Escape key. <Fn> Function n key.
<PG UP> Page Up key. <PG DN> Page Down key.
Optionally, a mouse may be used for moving the cursor. Place the
cursor on the desired data field, and press the left button.
The message at the upper right corner of a menu or panel indicates the
the current function name. For initial use SAMPLE is the current function.

SAMPLE SESSION
It is suggested that you spend a few minutes to become familiar with
WEDDING ARRANGER. Data errors exist in the SAMPLE function
to demonstrate the capabilities of WEDDING ARRANGER.
PRIMARY This is the first menu displayed. From this menu you select data
MENU entry panels, other menus or a return to the operating system.
MASTER Select this choice and then at the pop-up window,
select MODIFICATION OF HOUSEHOLD. View the entry panel
display. Press <PG DN> to view other household panels.
The SCR2 Y at screen bottom indicates the presence of
additional household names. Press <F2> if SCR2 Y is
present and the names will be displayed. Press <F2>
again to return to screen 1. Press <CTRL>+<END> and
return to the PRIMARY MENU.
ROOM Select this choice and note the number of tables
TABLE and the typical number of seats at a table. Press <ESC>
SPECIFICATION and return to the PRIMARY MENU.
INDIVIDUAL Select this choice. The number of seats for each table
TABLE is displayed. For example, assuming the head table is
SPECIFICATION table No. 1, that table has more seats than any other
table. Press <ESC> and return to the PRIMARY MENU.
CHECK Select this choice. At the pop-up window select
LIST MODIFICATION. For each category, options with
descriptions and cost data are stated. The selected
option is indicated by the Preference. Press <PG DN>
to view other categories. Press <CTRL>+<END> and
return to the PRIMARY MENU.
Select OUTPUT
OUTPUT This menu defines the processing to be accomplished, display
MENU or printing of an existing list and other menu selections.
WEDDING Select this choice. A pop-up window occurs.
LIST Select INVITATIONS. A list, suitable for
addressing invitations is created, saved and
displayed. Press <ESC> and return to the WEDDING
LIST window and then select X and return to the
OUTPUT MENU.
DISPLAY Select this choice. At the pop-up window select
LISTS WEDDING. At the next pop-up window select INVITATIONS
and the invitation list will be displayed.
Use <PG UP>, <PG DN>, and the cursor keys.
At the end of the list are totals. Press <ESC> and
the X and return to the OUTPUT MENU.
LISTING Select this choice. At the pop-up window select
TO PRINTER WEDDING. At the next pop-up window select
INVITATIONS. An invitation list will be printed.
Select X and return to the OUTPUT MENU.

U S E R 'S F U N C T I O N S T A R T U P
Now let's start entering data for your function. Select the
FUNCTION NAME MENU from any menu.
FUNCTION This menu allows the creation, renaming or changing to
NAME a different function. For example, Ellen's wedding is a
MENU function named "Ellen."
CREATE A Select this option and enter the name ELLEN.
NEW Follow the panel instructions. Return is to the
FUNCTION FUNCTION NAME MENU.
SELECT A Select this option and enter the name ELLEN.
DIFFERENT Follow the panel instructions. Note that ELLEN appears
FUNCTION in the upper right hand screen corner.
PRIMARY Select this menu.

Data for the function ELLEN can now be entered. It's assumed that you
will not enter table information at this time. However, if necessary
to enter table information, see PRIMARY MENU Description,
ROOM TABLE SPECIFICATION and INDIVIDUAL TABLE SPECIFICATION
MASTER Select this option. At the pop-up window select
ADD HOUSEHOLD. As a minimum, enter the
last name and first name for this household. Not all
data has to be entered at this time.
At your discretion, press <PG DN> for another
household or <CTRL>+<END> to end the ADD HOUSEHOLD
capability and return to the PRIMARY MENU.
MASTER Select MASTER (again). At the pop-up window select
MODIFICATION OF HOUSEHOLD. View, change or
add to your existing or previously entered data.
Press <CTRL>+<END> to end the MODIFICATION OF
HOUSEHOLD capability and return to the PRIMARY
MENU.
EXIT When this option is selected you will be returned to
DOS. Select it now or continue to enter data.
The last function used returning to DOS is the
the start-up function.
At your convenience, complete the other entries on the panels.

PRIMARY MENU Description
MASTER This choice yields a pop-up window requesting the type
HOUSEHOLD panels. A household represents a single address.
MODIFICATION This choice allows the modification or deletion
OF HOUSEHOLD of an existing household panel. Household
panels are displayed according to the first entry line
last name then first name. A maximum of three names
appear on this panel. Two additional names for this
household may be entered by pressing <F2>. Pressing
<F2> again returns you to the first screen.
Input data is saved whenever <PG UP>, <PG DN>
or <CTRL>+<END> keys are pressed.
The <PG DN> key selects the next panel and the
<PG UP> key selects the previous panel. The procedure
is ended by pressing <CTRL>+<END> or <PG UP> on
on the first (alpha sequence) panel or <PG DN> on the
last (alpha sequence) panel.
Household Data Description Section details the entry
data.
ADD This choice allows the addition of another household.
HOUSEHOLD Input data is saved whenever the <PG UP>, <PG DN> or
<CTRL>+<END> keys are pressed. See the Household Data
Description section on how to bypass the save feature
for a panel entered in error.
Pressing the <PG DN> key selects another blank
household for data entry. <PG UP> selects the
previously added household panel. The procedure is
ended by pressing <CTRL>+<END> or <PG DN> when
the panel contains a blank last name and first name or
<PG UP> on the first added panel.
BEGIN This choice is a time saver for selecting the first
MODIFICATION panel to be displayed for MODIFICATION OF HOUSEHOLD.
AT NAME The last and first names can be entered as any case.

PRIMARY MENU Description
ROOM TABLE The typical number of seats per table is a convenience
SPECIFICATION feature for assigning the number of seats per table.
The present number of tables and a typical number of seats
per table are displayed. If these numbers are satisfactory
then enter <ESC> to end the procedure. Otherwise,
follow the panel instructions.
The table number refers to the highest numbered table, not
the actual number of tables. For example tables 1 to 8 and
10 are to be used, and 9 is not to be used. Thus the
highest numbered table is 10.
Valid data entries are 1 to 99 for number of tables and
1 to 30 for typical number of seats.
A convenience feature is that any table containing the
previous typical number will be changed to the new value.
That is, all tables that contained the typical old value
as stated in the ROOM TABLE SPECIFICATION panel will be
changed to the newly entered value. The menu choice of
INDIVIDUAL TABLE SPECIFICATION will display these updated
values.
Follow the panel instructions.
INDIVIDUAL The table number and number of seats for each table are
TABLE displayed. Note that the number of tables and number of
SPECIFICATION seats per table are supplied from the "ROOM SPECIFICATION
PANEL". If these numbers are satisfactory then press <ESC>
and the choice will be ended. Otherwise, follow the
panel instructions and change the number of seats for any
table.

PRIMARY MENU Description
CHECKLIST Budget information and multiple providers of services
are maintained. A pop-up window appears requesting a choice.
MODIFICATION This choice allows the modification or deletion
of an existing category. Each panel displays one
category. Three options and price fields per
category are provided. Each option is named
"1, 2 or 3" and may contain information such as
company name, item description, address, phone,
name of contact, etc. Indicate your option
preference by entering a 1 2 or 3 in the preference
field.
Data for the other two options should not
be deleted. At a later date, you may need to change
your preference.
Panels are deleted by entering a "Y" in the Deleted
field. As the deletion process requires additional
processing time, it's best to group the deletions
for a single session.
ADD Addition categories are added using this selection.
NEW Categories can be added in any alpha sequence.
CATEGORIES Subsequent use of these new and existing categories
during the MODIFICATION process are displayed in an
alpha sequence.
The procedure is ended by pressing <CTRL>+<END>
or <PG UP> on the first entered panel or <PG DN> on a
blank panel.
OUTPUT This choice selects the OUTPUT MENU.
FUNCTION This choice selects the FUNCTION NAME MENU.

OUTPUT MENU Description
MASTER Select this option to print a panel image of the data entered in
LIST the HOUSEHOLD panels. This is the only output that cannot be
saved.
WEDDING A pop-up window appears requesting a choice.
LIST
INVITATIONS (Name, address) - This listing is suitable for the
addressing of the invitations. Names (first name
then last name) are grouped for each household
address. The state name replaces the state
abbreviation.
ATTENDING (Name, Table number, food) - This listing, grouped
by household address, names the people attending the
wedding. The listing format is similar to a response
card format.
Food selections and totals are stated. A quantity
comparison is made between the number of people
attending and food quantity. When a difference
occurs, "***" is indicated.
NO Invited people that have not responded are listed.
RESPONSE
TABLE This is a two part listing with each part sequenced
SEATING by table number. The first part names the people
and the total number of people for each table.
The second part indicates for each table the unused
seats, over assignment of seats (indicated by
'***") and names of people not assigned to a table.
PLACE This listing is used for writing the place cards.
CARDS Names are sequenced by last name then first name
and followed by table number. Unassigned names
are indicated.
GIFTS Wedding gifts, store purchased and thank-you
acknowledgements grouped by household are listed.
REHEARSAL A pop-up window appears requesting a choice.
DINNER
INVITATIONS This listing is suitable for the addressing of the
invitations. Names (first name then last name) are
grouped for each household. The state name replaces
the state abbreviation.

ATTENDING The names of the people attending the rehearsal
dinner are listed. The city and state of
out-of-town guests are indicated and thus can be
acknowledged at the dinner.

SHOWER A pop-up window appears requesting a choice.
LIST
INVITATIONS This listing is suitable for the addressing of the
invitations. Names (first name then last name) are
grouped for each household. The state name replaces
the state abbreviation.
ATTENDING The names of the people attending the shower are
listed.
NO Invited people that have not responded are listed.
RESPONSE
GIFTS Shower gifts, store purchased and thank-you
acknowledgements are listed.
CHECK A pop-up window appears requesting a choice.

DETAIL The description and price within each category are
LIST listed. A budget total is computed for the
designated PREFERENCE within each category.
CATEGORY This listing names the categories.
LIST
ETIQUETTE A pop-up window appears requesting a choice. This capability
LIST indicates non-conformance to traditions.
1 BRIDAL PARTY NOT INVITED TO REHEARSAL DINNER
Bridal party members not invited to the rehearsal dinner
are listed.
2 BRIDAL PARTY NOT INVITED TO SHOWER
Female bridal party members not invited to a shower are
listed.
3 OUT OF TOWN NOT INVITED TO REHEARSAL DINNER
Out-of-town guests attending the wedding and not invited
to the rehearsal dinner are listed.
4 TOTAL OF FRIENDS OF BRIDE AND GROOM
The totals for the friends of the bride, friends of the
groom and friends of both the bride and groom are listed.

OUTPUT MENU Description
GROUP This listing provides for each household panel, last names that
NAMES differ from the last name on the first entry line.
DISPLAY This option displays the previously created (from any session)
LIST listings. The listing can be viewed with an ASCII editor.
The maximum list size that can be displayed is 65536 (64K)
characters, equivalent to 1300 lines of 50 characters per line.
Larger lists require printing of the list or viewed
with your own ASCII editor. The screen will be blank or an
abbreviated list will appear. Press <ESC> to exit from the
display.
You can also edit the list. When finished, <ESC> and then
at the 'Abandon' message reply 'Y' (exit do not save changes),
'N' (return to display) or 'W' (save changes and exit).
FUNCTION This menu can be selected from the OUTPUT MENU.
NAME MENU
PRIMARY This menu can be selected from the OUTPUT MENU.

FUNCTION NAME MENU Description
SELECT A A different function is processed. The selection function
DIFFERENT must exist in order for it to be selected. If not, then
FUNCTION return to the menu and select CREATE A NEW FUNCTION.
CREATE A A new function is created using the system defaults of 35
NEW tables, 10 seats per table and a pre-defined checklist.
FUNCTION
DISPLAY THE Display the names of the functions. Use this display

RENAME THE Any function can be renamed.

Household Data Description
Screen 1 Entry Lines 1 and 2
SALUTATION Use upper, lower or mixed case. Upper case is automatic
for the first entered character. Suggested formats are
Mr. and Mrs., Mr., Miss, Mrs., Dr.and Mrs., etc. The
presence of "and" or a spouse name implies the presence of
two names. Function key 5 will enter a "Mr. and Mrs.".
LAST NAME/ Upper case is automatic for the first entered character.
FIRST NAME
WEDDING Accepting an invitation is synonymous to attending the
ATTEND* event.
"Y" The named person(s) will be attending the wedding
and reception.
"N" A response has been received and the invitation
declined.
"F" First name on Salutation line will attend the wedding
and reception.
"S" Spouse (female) will attend the wedding and reception.
blank Ceremony only or waiting on response to invitation.
TABLE Enter the reception table number. If this number is greater
than the ROOM TABLE SPECIFICATION number an error message
occurs. Valid range is 1 to 99.
RD Enter "Y" for an invitation to the Rehearsal Dinner.
The program assumes that when a spouse is named, both persons
are invited. Otherwise, enter "N" or leave blank.
ATTEND* Enter "Y N F S" (see WEDDING ATTEND*) for attending the
rehearsal dinner.
BP* Enter "Y F S" (see WEDDING ATTEND*) if the person(s) have
accepted to be members of the Bridal Party. Otherwise, enter
"N" or leave blank.
SHOWER Enter "Y" for a spouse shower invitation, or if no spouse
the FIRST named person. Otherwise, enter "N" or leave blank.
ATTEND Enter "Y" if the person is attending the shower or "N" if a
a response has been received and the invitation declined.
CEREMONY Enter "Y" if the person(s) is to be invited only to
the ceremony. An invitation will be sent. A CEREMONY ONLY
note appears on the invitation list. The WEDDING ATTEND*
entry should be blank.
ATTEND* Enter "Y N F S " (see WEDDING ATTEND*) for attending
only the ceremony.

ATTEND Enter "Y" if the person is attending the shower or "N" if
a response has been received and the invitation declined.
CEREMONY Enter "Y" if the person is invited only to the ceremony.
An invitation will be sent. A CEREMONY ONLY note appears
on the invitation list. The WEDDING ATTEND must be blank.
ATTEND Enter "Y" if the person will attend the ceremony or
"N" if a response has been received and the invitation
declined.
ADDRESS Avoid abbreviations. Use Court for Ct., North for N.
CITY Upper case is automatic for the first entered character.
Avoid abbreviations. Use Saint for St.
STATE Enter the two character abbreviation. Upper case is automatic.
If incorrect a message appears. The abbreviation is converted
to the full state spelling on the invitations.
OUT OF Enter a "Y" if applicable, otherwise enter "N" or leave

FRIENDS OF Enter a "Y" if a friend of the bride or friend of
BRIDE bride AND groom. Otherwise, enter "N" or leave blank.
FRIENDS OF Enter a "Y" if a friend of the groom or friend of
GROOM bride AND groom. Otherwise, enter "N" or leave blank.

MEALS Enter the total number of each type of meal selection.
The total number of meals for each household must equal
the number of persons attending the wedding from each
household.

DELETION Data for the household can be deleted. First delete the SCR2
panel (if it exists) and then SCR1. To save processing time,
try to group all your deletions.
The MASTER Screen 1 to/from Screen 2 panels are selected by pressing
<F2>. Screen 2 allows for two additional household names.
